The route via the Felbertauernstraße in particular turns every camping trip into an unforgettable adventure. Here, you can experience the high-alpine world of the Hohe Tauern National Park – stress-free, affordable and with breathtaking views. The route is therefore a must for every camper.
What you should know about the Felbertauernstraße
Campers and motorhomes only pay the car toll here. This is unlike most Austrian motorways and expressways, where a vignette is required. The Felbertauernstraße can be used without a vignette or Go-Box.

The Felbertauernstraße is open all year round. It can be used even in snow and ice. In such cases, please note that winter tyres are compulsory in Austria.

Experience the highlights along the way
Innergschlöss
Innergschlöss is a fantastic destination for a campervan stopover. Away from the tourist crowds, the unspoilt Alpine world awaits you, with crystal-clear mountain lakes, traditional alpine pastures and wild, romantic walking trails. You can park your campervan in the car park and explore the idyllic huts and alpine pastures on foot or by e-bike.
Campervan route through the Lesachtal
The Lesachtal Panorama Road is a particularly beautiful campervan route. It offers stunning mountain scenery of the Carnic Alps, such as the Kinigat and Plenge, with plenty of bends and several lovely panoramic spots to stop at along the way. And best of all: as early as Liesing, at 1,200 metres above sea level, you’ll find one of our eight campsites, the Panorama Campsite.

What you really need to know is that discounted advance tickets for a return journey are available from the ADAC; this also applies to non-members.
To sum up, it goes without saying that the Felbertauern Road is, of course, the quickest and most cost-effective route southwards – from Carinthia to Italy, Slovenia or Croatia. But 😊 – and we can’t recommend this highly enough – a stop at our campsites in the Gail and Lesach valleys, as well as the Gitsch Valley and Weissensee, is well worth it.
So here’s our advice: allow yourself a little more time. Don’t drive straight to your destination with tunnel vision and in top gear – do stop off and visit us instead.
