From Carinthia’s largest ski resort to the family ski lift right on your doorstep

Skiing at the Campingsterne in Carinthia

For skiers and snowboarders, Nassfeld – Carinthia’s largest ski resort – is practically on the campsite’s doorstep: wide slopes, modern lifts and the stunning mountain panorama of the Julian and Carnic Alps – the slopes stretch right up to the Italian border. From a leisurely day’s skiing with the family to a challenging run: the skiing options range from easy to difficult.

There are a total of five ski resorts – Nassfeld, Kötschach-Mauthen, Griminitzen, Weißbriach and Weissensee – in the immediate vicinity. The four smaller ones are excellent family-friendly ski resorts: compact, with plenty of snow and perfect for children, those getting back into the sport and anyone who prefers a relaxed experience.

  • A free ski bus takes you to the Nassfeld ski resort
  • Ski storage rooms at the campsite to dry your equipment
  • The Thommi Ski School at Nassfeld is part of Alpendorf Camping Weißbriach

A wide range of wellness facilities

What could be better than warming up properly after an active day in the cold winter air? That’s exactly why winter camping and wellness go hand in hand with us: each of the four winter campsites offers wellness facilities – either on site or in partnership with a nearby provider. This means you can tailor every day of your holiday to suit you.

Winter camping at Campingsterne is about more than just skiing: cross-country skiing on free trails, ice skating on the frozen Weissensee and Pressegger See, snowshoeing, tobogganing, ski touring or simply taking a leisurely stroll and enjoying the winter landscape.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, both are standard features at Campingsterne’s winter campsites. Heated sanitary facilities – showers and washrooms are heated at all four winter campsites. Heated storage rooms for ski equipment – in the ski rooms at the campsites, your equipment will dry safely and warmly overnight: ski boots, gloves, helmets and ski suits.

The roads along the Gail and Gitsch valleys and leading to Lake Weissensee are cleared throughout the winter – the campsites themselves are situated on cleared local roads or directly within the villages, so travelling there with winter tyres is generally no problem. Please do, however, bear in mind the current road conditions: depending on the weather, snow chains may be compulsory at times on the mountain roads (Gailberg, Nassfeld, Kreuzberg). If you want to be on the safe side, check the current conditions briefly before setting off – and take your snow chains with you just in case.

Winter tyres are compulsory in Austria between 1 November and 15 April anyway.

Yes, dogs are welcome at Campingsterne’s winter campsites.
